Merlin's for Sale
Advert Disclaimer: On behalf of the Merlin Owner's Club may we apologise, in advance, for any cars that are advertised here as "For Sale" and which turn out to be already sold. We are happy to advertise people's cars here for free, with the only condition being that they let us know when the car has been sold, so that we avoid carrying "dead" adverts. Unfortunately, people do not always oblige - so if you find any of the cars below have already been sold then we should like to know also so that we can update our own pages. - Regards the .
Hi, I'm Mike Thorley, a recently lapsed member who has reluctantly decided to sell his Merlin 2+2 due to lack of use.
The kit was built in 1990 from a 1977 2.0 cortina and has over 11 months Mot and 3 months tax. There is no damage to the car but some wear and tear due to its being built 19years/35000 miles ago ( a little work and a little money will make car excellent). The wet weather gear is present but I have never used it and its a bit tatty. It has all the stainless bits - bumpers, exhaust, rear luggage rack etc. Trim is leather & dashboard wood. The car is not a "Q" plate and in fact included in the price is a transferable three letter three digit reg number ,added with the slight (I said slight) patina of age to the car makes it really look the part ( in fact one "expert" insisted it was not a kit car at all! )

I think £3495 is a fair price and the car can be seen in Gorleston, Norfolk.
For more details, 'phone me, Mike, on 01493 658130.
Due to medical reasons, I reluctantly offer my beloved Merlin for sale.

DAMAGED MERLIN FOR SALE
My Merlin received some minor flood damage last year, but my insurers do not want to repair it and want to write it off for scrap. I have argued for over 6 months that even if i do not want to put it back on the road it is to "valuable" a resource to just scrap, as I felt there were other members/potential owners/builders that might be interested in it.
The leather interior etc are untouched by the flood. They have finally agreed a buyback of £2500.00. I have already repaired the fairly minor damage and the car is running, but it has not been on the road since last July. I am about to start another course of hospital treatment, so am not sure if I want to keep the car or not.
I was going to sell it last year, and had a lot of interest on ebay at over £5000.00 when I had to pull it from the auction due to the flooding. It has an agreed value of £10,000 with insurers and it won best new merlin on its début (1994 I think) and has still done very little mileage. As it has so many extras on it and is basically a sound, running car, I think it a crying shame that the insurers will only scrap it, so, as long as I can get more than the buy-back price, I would be happy to see it go to someone else. Can you help?
I am about to change servers, so my email might be out for a while, although should still get to me, or my day number is 01865 820206, evening 01865 821052.
Hope you can help save this car.
