June 2002

Not a fantastic turnout this year, but we had about eight cars over the two days and the weather behaved itself for once. (Those older members will recall Dave Farman cooking under an umbrella on more than one occasion).

lain McEwan brought us up to date with arrangements for the Norfolk weekend taking place in September (see report later)

I recall that there was some sort of ball playing game being televised in the clubhouse, strangely, some of the men disappeared ! We hadn't taken any provisions for a BBQ so eight of us set off into the surrounding countryside, found a pub on the banks of the River Trent and enjoyed an evening meal. (To Margaret & Clive: received cheque safely thanks )

Barry & Neta had come over from Ipswich but had to return after breakfast on Sunday, Dave & Sue Daniels had travelled from Wales and stayed over a bit longer and I let Andy take Dave to Newark on Sunday to pick up some more bits for the car. Sue & I took it easy in the garden.

Hopefully if we are not on holiday next year we will be able to attend. A site is always booked so there will be a place for the Merlins. Maybe we will see a few more of you, I'm sure we could invade a local pub for refreshments.
